On 10 Mar 63 East German Border Guards fired at a Brixmis tour car near the Berlin Wall in East Germany.
The driver, Cpl Day RAF, was shot and very seriously wounded. He was taken into intensive care in an
East German hospital and remained there for several days following extensive surgery.
He lost a kidney and suffered numerous other injuries.
